Valentine’s Groove at Sound Bites Grill! Calling all Lovers of Food, Wine & Music!

On Wednesday February 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. its Wineaux Wednesday at Sound Bites Grill! Sedona’s Best Wine Tasting Event features a dozen wines from the wine cellar to taste. Wine experts will be onsite to help answer any questions about the many selections. Happy Hour Drink menu is available at the bar from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wineaux Wednesdays only.

Local musician, Guitarist/Ukulele virtuoso Patrick Ki, performs every Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m., elevating the wine tasting experience! Patrick has been performing in Sedona for over 20 years. His passion for smooth instrumental music can be traced back to his roots growing up on the Windward side of Oahu. Although formally trained with jazz and classical music degrees, his melodic style has always been influenced by the sounds of the Hawaiian slack key guitar, delivering a soothing yet uplifting blend of romantic favorites and original compositions. In addition to performing extensively across the country, Ki has contributed to many film and television soundtracks.

On Thursday, February 11 from 6 to 9 p.m., it’s Date Night ‘Chill on the Hill’ at Sound Bites Grill with Eric Miller & Adriel Zang. Sip & savor SBG hand-crafted cocktails including signature Chill-tini’s or Mock-tini’s made with Seedlip® Botanicals. Enjoy a Gourmet Artisan Wood Fired Pizza as you Groove to the vibe of live music from 6 -9 p.m., featuring Eric Miller on acoustic guitar & Adriel Zang on percussion.  

Eric Miller is a singer songwriter and world music enthusiast. After traveling throughout France, Italy, England, and Ireland – he learned and experienced each nation's culture and beautiful music. It was when he arrived in Spain that he fell in love with the art of Flamenco Guitar. Best known for his Latin Jazz music, Eric has written numerous songs and has many albums. He has also written music for film and television. You will be mesmerized with his melodic voice and soft rhythmic guitar playing of originals and familiar covers including songs by Sting & Bryan Adams.

Adriel Zang has been playing drums and percussion for over a decade, and performing professionally since the age of thirteen. Having studied jazz performance at the New School of the Arts, he has become one of the most in-demand drummers for up-and-coming jazz and pop groups such as: Monkey Funk, The Blue Tone quartet, and The All-Star Combo at Scottsdale Community College (SCC). 

Together, they set the perfect atmosphere to relax & chill, with World Beat & Brazilian Groove Fusion - playing original songs, as well as popular covers you will know and love!

On Friday night February 12 from 7 to 10 p.m., enjoy a second helping of music ‘Miller style’ with the dynamic energy of Eric Miller! Eric plays romantic Latin Love Songs as he heats up the night with acoustic guitar ‘Bossa Nova style - described as “a vibe of youthful celebration; of romance; beach culture, and sensual pleasure. “

It had been back in the 1960’s that the people of Brazil adopted a style of music they would refer to as ‘Bossa Nova’, which literally means ‘new wave’ in Portuguese. It has been described as a soft samba, based on traditional Brazilian music and rhythms coupled with American jazz, and adding a new style of Portuguese lyrics. According to Eric, “Bossa Nova is romance; ocean and sunshine.” You will hear his original songs as well as classic covers and love ballads, including songs by Sting & Bryan Adams.

Saturday, February 13 from 7 to 10 p.m., get ready to be energized with a night of Latin and World Beat Music! The Eric Miller Band takes the stage in the hot spotlight delivering an upbeat sound of sizzling hot Brazilian Jazz Samba!

The band consists of some of Sedona’s top musicians, including Miller on lead guitar & vocals, Troy Perkins on bass guitar, who is by far one of the most talented and versatile bassists playing; Chris Counelis on saxophone, who’s sax style adds a progressive smooth jazz vibe to the mix; and Adriel Zang on drums, a talented percussionist, who always brings the beat.

This fab four are an ensemble of outstanding artists coming together to deliver high energy; upbeat Latin Jazz - Their sound may be likened to Strunz & Farah; the Gypsy Kings & Benise, and together the band delivers their own unique and powerful fusion of Brazilian Latin Jazz and World Beat music that is Hot, Hot, Hot!

Sunday, February 14 Valentine’s Day Sunday Jazz Brunch – Enjoy the BEST Jazz Brunch in Sedona! Spectacular Red Rock VIEWS with live music. Sound Bites Sunday Jazz Brunch serves a Musical Breakfast Menu starting at 9 a.m. Enjoy an SBG Ultimate Bloody Mary Supreme garnished with a strip of SBG cracked black pepper sweet bacon, a jumbo shrimp, pickle spear and celery sprig - or the Prosecco Mimosa Flight with a variety of fruit flavor choices. Try the Egg Zeppelin Omelet, Tofu Fighters scramble, John Denver Omelet, All You Need is Lox platter, Livin’ La Vida Burrito, Berry Hall & Oats granola & fruit, Morning Salad Ballad, or the popular Eggs Benny & the Jets. Sunday Brunch includes live music with the Smooth Jazz sound of Solomon Morris on acoustic guitar from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., playing a variety of favorites from George Benson to The Beatles.

Solomon is a celebrated local musician, gifted with the energetic power of healing through music, his melodic style provides a relaxing atmosphere that uplifts the spirit and feeds the soul. He studied jazz guitar from age 19-23. When listening to him play, it’s hard to believe he put the guitar down for over 30 years in pursuit of gaining knowledge of all kinds. Solomon earned a BA in classical languages: Arabic, Latin & Greek. He became a teacher of English Literature, Math, Elementary Spanish, Arabic & Latin, and worked as a GED teacher for 10 years. He has written four books on the Arabic Language. It was at the age of 54 that he finally picked up the guitar again, and for the love of music, he left his profession of teaching and returned to sharing his gift of music with the world!

Indoor seating for Sunday Brunch is in the beautiful Sound Bites Grill rock n roll-chic designed restaurant, with live music & Brunch seating  in the SBG Celebrity Showroom & guitar gallery. The patio and courtyard seating will be available as warmer weather permits. Reservations are suggested. Date night chill on the hill.

Valentine’s Day celebrations - on Sunday February 14 from 6 to 9 p.m., come celebrate the most romantic night of the year at Sound Bites where all you need is love…and chocolate merlot! Order the ‘The Sweetheart Special for Two’, you will enjoy a 4-course culinary experience including creative appetizers, fresh artisan salad choices including the SBG Hemp Hearts Avocado Salad, House or Ceasar, and classic surf n turf medley of an 8oz hand cut Filet Mignon, 6oz. Cold Water Lobster Tail and one-half pound Alaskan King Crab Legs served with drawn butter and finishing off with decadent desert choices & chocolate covered strawberries! Ooo La La!!!

The Chris Counelis Jazz Quartet play 6 to 9 p.m. in the Sound Bites Celebrity Showroom. Enjoy an evening of hot romance with sizzling progressive jazz grooves! The band features Chris Counelis on saxophone, David Vincent Mills on keyboard; Troy Perkins on bass, and Ed Barattini on drums.

From an early age, Chris Counelis has been steeped in Jazz and Big Band music. He studied at Berklee College of Music while still in high school and attended The University of North Texas for four years majoring in Jazz Performance. David Vincent Mills on keyboard is a jazz pianist, composer, recording artist and producer. As a solo artist, Mills performs original compositions and his arrangements of jazz standards and contemporary classics. Troy Perkins is the most versatile and sought-after bass playing musician in the Verde Valley. His father was a bass player and composer, so Troy was raised with a bow in his hand. Additionally, Troy makes bass guitars; the list of his talents is quite long! Ed Barattini  is always adding his signature beat, whether it be jazz, rock, or acoustic ensembles, he is a local favorite and a ‘drummer with a heart’.
